Tomche Shabbos offers many opportunities for men, women and children to participate in these wonderful chesed endeavors.

On the evening before the deliveries take place a group of girls prepare the warehouse. This includes assembling the boxes and sorting certain food items. This program runs on Wednesdays and the day before pre-Yom Tov deliveries at 8-10pm.

On the evening the deliveries take place there are 2 groups of volunteers who participate. Group A, the Packers; group B, the Drivers. Packing starts at around 9pm for about 2 hours. This includes bagging certain foods and putting food products into the boxes.
Everyone is welcome to assist as a packer on Thursday evenings. Please note that kids under 16 not allowed without their father. When arriving seek out Michael Rosenstock for instructions.
The drivers are responsible for closing the boxes for their route and delivering the packages to the recipients. This starts at around 10:30 and takes about an hour or more.
In order to be a driver you will need to meet with Rabbi Moskowitz on Thursday evenings at the Tomche Shabbos warehouse for further discussion.

There are other volunteering opportunities on occasion during the week when we need help unloading trucks with major deliveries. If wish to add yourself to the “call me and I’ll see if I’m available” list please email us.

A great turnout of volunteers is especially appreciated before Yom Tov, especially before Pesach when the number of packages are almost 10-fold. Before Pesach the packing takes place on a Sunday and during the entire day. You are welcome to give a hand or to simply come by with your kids to teach them about chesed. It is awe inspiring to how much of the community gets involved with Kimche Depische. Please beware that traffic gets a little congested at Spook Rock Industrial Park, so please be considerate.

Before a Dinner there are certain specialty skills which can add tremendous value and alleviate a lot of the burden. Our Dinners are typically held in the winter time. Please email us if you wish to assist on the Dinner programs.

Our widely successful grocery card campaign cannot be accomplished without the assistance of volunteers who distribute them to the groceries. Please email us if you wish to volunteer your time for this campaign.
